| 1.Health Project, Attappady (Art.275(I) 75% CSS) |
An OP clinic was opened in Attappady in Feb.1999, as a part of the Attappady Health Project. Government later issued revised Administrative sanction for the construction of a speciality hospital at Kottathara in Attappady. Nearly 5.70 acres of land was acquired for this purpose and the construction work started during May 2001. The work is progressing well.
The Construction is done utilising the Addl.SCA funds released by Govt. of India during 1999-2000. |
2.Health Project, Idukky(art 275(1) ( 75 % CSS) |
Considering the Health problem of tribals in the highlands of Idukky, 4 OP clinics were started in Idukky during 2001-2002, and 2002-03 as a part of the project. The unit cost for running 1 unit being estimated as Rs.5.00 lakh, an amount of Rs. 20.00 lakh is needed for running 4 such units. As unutilised funds under art 275(I) released by Government of India are available, an amount of Rs.5.00 lakh is proposed as 25% state share so that the Central Share of 75%(Rs.15.00 lakh) is available. |
| 3.Health Project Mananahavady Wayanad |
The Health Project, Mananthavady is meant for the treatment and control ofPeculiar and common diseases like tuberculosis, scabies, helmenthiasis and visual impairements among Scheduled Tribes. The hospital building has been completed. Action is being taken to make the hospital full fledged by providing sophisticated equipments and other facilities. During 2003-2004 inpatient unit has been started in the hospital. Action will also be taken to appoint speciality doctors in the hospital. The proposed amount will be given as grant-in-aid to the Wayanad Tribal Health Care Society, under which the Mananthavady health project is functioning now. |
| 4.Providing Health care package to Tribal Individuals affected by diseases. |
The scheme is intended to provide better treatment and rehabilitation of tribals affected by sickle cell anaemia, tuberculosis, leprosy, TB and such other diseases. Organising of medical camps and check ups transport of patient to nearby hospitals, provision of nutritious food on the advice of the Doctor, provision of drugs unavailable in hospitals , rehabilitation of cured patients etc. are the main components of the scheme especially those affected by sickle anaemia. As a part of this scheme the chronic patients of sicklele cell anaemia will be sent to the popular sickle cell anaemia counselling units like Vivekananda Medical Mission, Wayanad, Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, etc. The latest developments in the new technology namely: genetical engineering Vis-à-vis sickle anaemia will be utilised for the cure of chronic patients. |

Health Insurance Scheme for poor tribal families |
| The Health standards in tribal areas are extremely poor. Distant tribal hamlets are highly susceptible epidemics. The Govt hospitals in the tribal areas lack good facilities and because of their remoteness the posts of Doctors are often vacant. It is necessary to give good quality health care to tribals who are afflicted by diseases. Similarly good quality maternity care has to be provided to tribal women during child birth. Accidents which are common in tribal areas also require to be attended to. In view of this, a Health Insurance Scheme for the poor tribal families covering treatment of existing general and grave illness, and provision of maternity care trauma care in Govt and selected private Hospitals |
| 6.Mobile Medical Unit |
| Two mobile medical units functioning in Thiruvananthapuram and Idukky districts for the treatment of Tribals by visiting the hamlets on vehicle with a doctor and Medical team. Medicines are also supplying during the visit. |

3 Allopathy Dispensories are functioning for providing treatment in modern medicine.

| For midwifery centers are functioning for the timely assistance for the tribal families. |
| 10. De-Addiction Campaign and rehabilitation programme for Wayanad, Attappady Idukky |
A sizeable portion of the tribals are addicted to liquor as well Ganja and consequently they are unable to sustain any progress through the existing developmental programmes implemented through various agencies. In order to solve this problem, it is proposed to start 3 [Three] De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centres attached to the existing tribal health projects in Attappady , Idukky and Wayanad. Accordingly, an amount of Rs. 10 lakh per centre is proposed. This amount is intended for meeting the salary of Doctors, Para Medical Staff, Driver, Attender, Cost of Medicine, counselling charges, I.P charges including Boarding , bystanders boarding expenses, Procurement of ambulance, diesel expense, awareness creation campaign and infrastructure. |

| Financial assistance is given to patients for the treatment Rs 300/- person. For the Burial function also they can avail assistance through Gramma panchayath.application form |
| Allopathy Hospital |
| 3 hospitals are functioning at wayanadu, Idukky and Palakkadu. |
